Installation

There are three options to get up and running:

  • Compile it yourself: Install Java and Grails, get the source, run grails war and install the WAR file into your J2EE Container
  • Install Java (JDK) and Tomcat, Download the precompiled WAR file and install it into your J2EE container
  • Download a preconfigured version of Tomcat, with hbaseexplorer installed as root application. You just need Java to get this to run.

Currently only a version suitable for HBase 0.20.2 is available.

      You can find the available downloads @ sourceforge. There is a newer version available meanwhile for hbase 0.90x .

    What is the latest Hbase/Hadoop version it is known to work with?
    I tried with HBase 0.94.1, and this is what I was observing:
    – After creating new connection, it hangs on “fetching table information….”
    – Whenever clicking “scan”, it says – Problems occured while executing SCAN operation: java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: Not a host:port pair:

    OK, I’ve got it running with Hbase 0.94.1/Hadoop 1.0.3 after I changed dependencies in BuildConfig.groovy as:

    compile “commons-cli:commons-cli:1.2”
    compile(“org.apache.hbase:hbase:0.94.1”) {
    excludes “thrift”,”hadoop-ant”, “zookeeper-ant”, “slf4j-log4j12”
    }
    compile “org.apache.hadoop:hadoop-core:1.0.3”
